Surf Life Saving

WHAT IS IT?

Surf Life
Saving is both a sport & a community service and they are both great ways
to get active. Surf Life Saving clubs provide a range of activities and
opportunities to participate in and develop depending on your interests. Love
sport & competition? You can swim, run, paddle, row or race IRBs
(Inflatable Rescue Boats). Want to develop life skills and help your community?
Train to become a lifeguard and learn about beach safety, First Aid, CPR,
search and rescue and help patrol our beautiful beaches to keep people safe in
the water.

WHY IS IT GOOD FOR ME?

Its not just
good for you, but for your whole community. It’s a great way to meet new
people, socialise, improve your health and fitness and develop skills that will
support you for the rest of your life. Surf Life Saving clubs are very family
orientated with programmes for kids, teens and adults and best of all its at
the beach!

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST ME?

Joining a club
will have a membership fee that will vary club to club, so check out the link
to find a club that you like. Because Surf Life Saving is a charity we rely on
lots of volunteers and people being able to contribute towards their
activities.

WHAT DO I NEED TO START?

Swimwear and a towel is a great start! Being confident in and around the water helps but there are lots of land-based activities as well. Club provide most of the equipment for members to learn and train with.
